Dr. Kelly was raised in West Chester, PA and recently moved to Winston-Salem with her husband, who grew up in Hickory. She attended The Pennsylvania State University for her Bachelor of Science and then the University of North Carolina School of Dentistry, where she was awarded her Doctorate of Dental Surgery.
Following dental school, Dr. Kelly attended Ohio State University for her Master of Science and achieved her Certificate in Pediatric Dentistry at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. In residency, her master’s thesis on pediatric dental comfort following treatment under general anesthesia was presented at the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry annual session. It won the Ralph E. MacDonald Award, an award given to the top research presentation at the conference.
Dr. Kelly is currently Board Eligible through the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. She is also a member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, American Dental Association, North Carolina Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, North Carolina Dental Society, Southeastern Society of Pediatric Dentistry, and Forsyth Dental Society.
Dr. Kelly and her husband, Dr. Blake Nelson, who is a general dentist, married in 2018. The couple enjoys time with her family in Wilmington and his in Hickory. They also like hiking with their Goldendoodle, Teddy, traveling, exploring local restaurants, and quality time with friends. Dr. Kelly has a “bucket list” goal of visiting all 61 National Parks. Closer to home, she can often be found painting and has recently become interest in restoring old furniture.
