Dr. Gina Spangler moved to Winston-Salem in 1996 to join Dr. Mark Meyer in caring for children in our community. She works at both our Winston-Salem and Kernersville office locations. A native of North Carolina, she and her husband wanted to find an area to welcome both dentists and to raise a family. Forsyth County seemed like the perfect place.
Dr. Gina is a Magna Cum Laude graduate from Furman University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry. She received her Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of North Carolina (UNC) - Chapel Hill.
Upon completion of a three-year residency program in Chapel Hill, Dr. Gina earned her certificate in pediatric dentistry and post-doctoral Masters of Science at UNC where she received extensive training in growth and development of children, adolescents, and special needs patients. She is board certified with the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. During the process of becoming a Diplomate of the Board, Dr. Gina earned the James Roche Award of Excellence for scoring in the top three percent of all the national candidates on the Pediatric Dental Board Exam.
Dr. Gina is active in the community and organized dentistry. She is a member of the North Carolina Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the Forsyth County Dental Society, the North Carolina Dental Society, the Southeastern Society of Pediatric Dentistry, and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. What parents are saying about Dr. Gina
Always has a bright smile
"My daughter has been a patient of Dr. Gina Spangler since she was 18 months old. She is now 16 years old and still seeing Dr. Gina. She always has a bright smile and I am very happy I came across this dentist! The whole staff is great. They know how to take care of their patients. I would recommend this office for all of your kids' needs. 2 locations in Winston-Salem and Kernersville. Thanks for making this a great experience for my daughter."
There really is no comparison
"We've been going to Happy Kids Smiles for over 4 years, and there reallys is no comparison to this office anywhere in Winston-Salem. My oldest had some issues as a result of another dentist, and Dr. Gina fixed it all ofr her and restored her confidence in dentists! At every visit, Dr. Gina is very honest, kind, and caring. It's always evident she wants to do what's best for your child. Additionally, the staff is very patient and professional, and I really appreciate that I can schedule all four my children at the same time! One of the best features is this office allows you to come back and sit with your child during treatment if you wish. That proves to me that they have nothing to hide and are confident in their abilities. We won't go anywhere else! Thank you Happy Kids Smiles for living up to your name."
Worked quickly and efficiently and explained everything to me
“I took my son here today for a procedure. Dr. Gina and our dental assistant were beyond amazing. They worked quickly and efficiently, talking to him the whole time explaining what they were doing. He was comfortable throughout the entire procedure because of their astute attention to him! Thank you all so much for taking such great care of him!”

My daughter LOVES to go to the dentist
"Dr. Gina and the entire staff are simply amazing! Their office is incredibly warm and welcoming, and they make each child feel so at ease in a potentially scary situation. My oldest daughter LOVES going to the dentist and just seems to have the best time learning about her teeth, getting them cleaned, picking out a new toothbrush and a prize and chatting with all the friendly staff. I also have a daughter with special needs, and the thought of getting her teeth cleaned has terrified me for a long time. Dr. Gina and her staff are SO patient, kind, and attentive to our needs. They make me so comfortable and that translates to a calmer, more cooperative child who senses that I trust those who are caring for her. I cannot say enough positive things about our experiences at this office. We are so grateful for their truly oustanding patient care!"
So personable and caring
"Love love love Dr. Gina Spangler and her staff. They are so personable and caring! Dr. Spangler always takes her time with my children and wants to know how they are doing personally. Wish I could be a patient!"
