Meet Dr. Kelly Lipp

Dr. Kelly Lipp joined our practice in July, 2019 and is thrilled to be a member of the Spangler, Rohlfing & Lambert Pediatric Dentistry team. She practices at both the Winston-Salem and Kernersville office locations.

Education

Dr. Kelly Lipp was raised in West Chester, PA and recently moved to Winston-Salem with her husband, who grew up in Hickory, NC. She attended The Pennsylvania State University for her Bachelor of Science and then the University of North Carolina School of Dentistry, where she was awarded her Doctorate of Dental Surgery. Dr. Kelly graduated at the top of her class with distinction in research.

Following dental school, Dr. Kelly attended Ohio State University College of Dentistry for her Master of Science and achieved her Certificate in Pediatric Dentistry at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. In residency, her master’s thesis on pediatric dental comfort following treatment under general anesthesia was presented at the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry annual session. It won the Ralph E. MacDonald Award, an award given to the top research presentation at the conference. She is also certified in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).

Leadership

Dr. Kelly is Board Certified through the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. She is also a member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, American Dental Association, North Carolina Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, North Carolina Dental Society, Southeastern Society of Pediatric Dentistry. Dr. Kelly is an executive member of the Forsyth County Dental Sociey and currently serves as Treasurer and Secretary. Recently, Dr. Kelly's research on post-operative comfort following dental treatment under general anesthesia was published in the Journal of Anesthesia Progress.

More about Dr. Kelly

Dr. Kelly and her husband, Dr. Blake Nelson, who is a general dentist, married in 2018. They have two daughters, Ella and Sophie. When Sophie was born, she surprised everyone with her smile --she had a cleft lip! Sophie is now in the care of a pediatric craniofacial team and her mom to follow her growth and development. She had her first surgical repair in the Spring of 2023.

The family enjoys time with her family in Wilmington and his in Hickory. They also love hiking with their Goldendoodle, Teddy, traveling, exploring local restaurants, and quality time with friends. Dr. Kelly has a “bucket list” goal of visiting all 61 National Parks. She and her husband have two daughters, Ella and Sophie.

Thanks to Dr. Kelly, my son will have minimal damage following a trampoline collision

"Thanks to the incredible care of Dr. Kelly Lipp, the damage caused by a collision at a trampoline park will be minimal for my 14yo son. After being told at the ER that there was nothing they could do for my son's visibly damaged teeth, Dr. Lipp met us at the office late on Saturday night. They then provided excellent physical and emotional care to both me and my son. A couple of days later, my son's orthodontist commented that Dr. Lipp did a perfect job splinting the tooth.
